Ah, august. Time for change in the garden. Out with (some of) the old, in with the new. I love dried plants. I just took these photographs of some chinese lanterns (Physalis alkekengi) from a few years ago and of one still green and hanging from the plant. Soon this one too will turn orange and can join the rest in a glass vase (no lanterns at all last year, but now there are three, so I’m really pleased). In the next picture, the dried seedheads of the white Ragged robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi Alba), which one day just turned up in my garden. Such a sweet surprise.
